Located in the Lower Silesian Province, Oława is a medium-sized city with a population of just over 30,000. More than half of Olawa's area is farmland, but industry is the main source of employment for its residents.
In the 1990s, many of Oława's industrial plants closed, and the city became a place of high unemployment. After several years of decline, new employers appeared in the region and began to take advantage of the existing infrastructure and high demand for labor. Oława once again became an important center of industrial production.
